Atlanta Mayoral Candidate Mary Norwood Caught On Tape Using Racially-Coded Language - Video during: 00:12:11
Less than a week before the run off election that could leave Atlanta with its first white mayor in more than 40 years, we're learning that one of the candidates was caught on tape using some racially-coded language.
According to a recording obtained by rolling out dot com, Atlanta mayoral candidate Mary Norwood used racially coded language during a private meeting held by the Buckhead Young Republicans in June.
After urging people not to record the conversation, Norwood blamed her 2009 runoff loss to outgoing incumbent Kasim Reed on illegal voting. She claims Reed found voters who once lived in housing projects and bused them into voting booths. On tape she is heard to say: It's a lot harder to drive a van with six felons, you know guys who are going to commit felonies by voting illegally, if someone is watching.
