NANAKULI (HawaiiNewsNow) - An early morning crash sent three people to the hospital, including a Honolulu police officer. It happened on Farrington Highway in front of the Nanakuli food Mart shortly before 1:00 AM Tuesday. According to witnesses, the police car was seen speeding down the highway before slamming into another vehicle
Police say the patrol car was traveling west on Farrington Highway, and crashed into a car that was making a turn on the highway from Maaloa Street.
Everyone involved was taken to the hospital. The officer, who sources identify as 38-year-old William J Albright, was initially listed in serious condition, but has since been treated and released.
The driver 29-year-old Eric J Flores of Nanakuli is listed in serious condition. His passenger, 30-year-old Kamuela Rubinal, also of Nanakuli, is in fair condition.
"That police cruiser went flying and all I heard was a boom. I went look, he hit that maroon car" said witness Leimana Lacson.
Police are investigating whether the patrol car was speeding.
