Closings and delays for February 7, 2018

WASHINGTON (ABC7) — A Winter Weather Advisory that is expected to include freezing rain and ice is causing government and school delays along with some school closings Wednesday.

The Federal Government is operating on a two-hour delay and schools in Loudoun and Fairfax counties in Virginia and Washington County in Maryland are now closed.

In Maryland, schools in Prince George's, Montgomery, Anne Arundel, Howard and Frederick counties are all on a two-hour delay.


Another morning with potentially icy travel conditions Wednesday, Feb. 7, has some schools closing or delaying operations.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the entire region , with snow changing to sleet and freezing rain in the morning.

All Fairfax County public schools will be closed today, February 7, due to icy road and sidewalk conditions expected to continue until late this morning. School offices and central offices will open two hours late, to be opened by 10 (Condition 5)

Loudoun County Public Schools will be closed today, February 7, 2018 due to the weather. Admin offices will open at 10:00 am.

All Prince William County Schools are closed Wednesday, February 7, due to expected inclement weather conditions in certain areas. Code red for employees. All school division activities including Professional Development sessions are canceled. SACC will not open. Telework subject to policy.

Federal agencies in the DC area have a 2-hour delay, with the option for unscheduled leave/telework.

All Arlington Public Schools will open two hours late today. The Extended Day program will also open two hours late and morning field trips are canceled. Essential employees and food service workers should report to work at their regularly scheduled time. All other employees should report to work two hours past their usual start time. Due to inclement weather, Culpeper County Public Schools will open two hours late, Wednesday Feb. 7, 2018. Twelve month employees report one hour late. Essential personnel report on time. Check for updates.

Falls Church City Public Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay. Daycare will open on time. Check for updates.

All Fauquier County Public Schools will be delayed two hours Wednesday February 7. Offices will be delayed two hours. We will continue to evaluate the situation. Check for updates.

All Manassas City Public Schools will be on a two hour delay, Wednesday, February 7, 2018, due to reports of potential hazardous conditions in the early morning hours. SACC will also open two hours late. Full day Pre-K will begin two hours late. There will be no school for students in the Half Day Blended Pre-K. Check for updates.
